0708. Revenge Spending

 

MTH 33-4. Rats!

Jack and Annie stood in the courtyard and they wanted to meet the ruler.

They passed the Giants' Stars, and the statues of Mars and Neptune, and the Golden Staircase.

When they got to the top of the Golden Staircase, they met another guard who was sleeping.

They carefully passed by him and entered the ruler's living chambers.

They felt the ruler was not there.

Jack looked at the Map room.

They thought there are many winged lions. The paintings and sculptures of the winged lion are the symbol of Venice that refers to land and sea.

As Jack and Annie looked up at the lion paintings, the grouchy guard and the sleepy guard rushed into the room.

They pushed Jack and Annie into a dark, damp cell over the Bridge of Sighs.

The research book said it was filled with rats.

Jack and Annie pulled out Teddy and Kathleen's book in his backpack.

Jack gripped the bars of the window and Annie read the rhyme in Teddy and Kathleen's book.

The bars began to glow and Jack opened them to Annie and him to fit through.

They got out of the cell and sloshed down the watery hallway but at the end of it, they nearly bumped right into the two guards. 

The two guards ran after them but they barely escaped the palace.

 

MTH 33-5. Lorenzo

Jack and Annie decided to skip finding the Ruler of the Seas and looking out the painter Tiepolo again.
They went toward the Church of San Felice.
While they hurried over the bridge, Jack thought weird about water.
A young woman let them know why is that.
Venice was often high water because there had been much rain in the mountains.
They hadn't figured out anything about Merlin's letter so Jack was disappointed.
Annie went to the Tiepolo's house and peeped inside.
There was a boy who was painting in there.
His name was Lorenzo Tiepolo.
Annie told him they were looked for the Ruler of the Seas.
The boy showed a picture on the wall in his house.
It was painted Neptune and a beautiful woman.
Neptune referred to the Ruler of the Seas and a beautiful woman meant the Grand Lady of the Lagoon.
Jack and Annie finally figured out The Grand Lady of the Lagoon meant Venice.
Their mission was they had to save Venice from a terrible disaster.
